"I live in Los Angeles while the rest of my family lives in Switzerland, where I grew up. I try to visit my family once a year, and every time I brace myself for the shock of seeing them age in yearly increments. Seeing my parents age this way especially,has been a painful experience as it is an unmistakable reminder of their (our) mortality. This realization was the impetus for making a definitive record of them that will endure.

The Ensuing Typology includes over seventy relatives spanning three generations so far. Their faces are photographed straight on, from each side, and under the exact same lighting conditions; achieving an objective comparison of facial features."

"Nearly every morning for an entire month, I stood in approximately the same location in my backyard making a photographic record of both the sky and the ground. I was interested in drawing relationships between the infinite variation of pattern in something that is unreachable, and that which is right beneath my feet. In the installation, which was based on the calendar month of March, the gaps, or vacant spaces, represent me missing a day, being out of town, or a camera error. I embrace these uncontrollable errors in my working process. They break the perfect order into pieces, providing a more complex formation for the viewer to navigate."

"I became interested in creating diptychs after noticing how some object or thing, whether in a photograph, painting, or real life, could resemble or mimic something else. In this series of photographic diptychs, I have purposely isolated subjects in each photograph as a means of comparing them to one another. Through the juxtaposition of subjects, I attempt to create work that is humorous and that speaks about perception. Largely, our understanding of the world around us is shaped by assumptions of what we see."

Where was you today?

"We do not live or work together, and yet we wanted to share a common area around some photographies.
Share time, even a few milliseconds, despite the distance that can separate us (589 km at the beginning of the project). At the same time, our eyes look at two different spaces, to finally form one single picture.

The rule is simple: each day, a time and a picture ratio are given. The next day, when that moment comes, we trigger no matter where we are. Later, the pictures are put next to each other to finally be published on this blog exactly (to the very minute) two weeks after their capture."
